The Six Sins of Greenwashing

Documented the rise in "greenwashing," misleading environmental claims about products or services designed to increase sales. It identified six "sins" such as the sin of fibbing, the sin of no proof, and the sin of the hidden trade-off to highlight the variety of ways consumers can be misled.



The report received considerable coverage leading to U.S. Congressional hearings, a Federal Trade Commission (FTC) committee, interviews on Good Morning America,CBS News, National Public Radio, and in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, and other publications around the world.
